Kompetensi Guru Bahasa Arab di Pesantren: Konsep Profesionalisme Pedagogis, Linguistik, dan Spiritual
Keywords:
Teacher Competence, Arabic Language, Pesantren, Professionalism, Spiritual CompetenceAbstract
Arabic teachers in pesantren play a strategic role because Arabic is the key to accessing classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning) and Islamic scholarship. However, studies on teacher competence often discuss pedagogical, linguistic, or spiritual aspects separately. This article aims to analyze the pedagogical, linguistic, and spiritual competences of Arabic teachers in pesantren and to formulate a professionalism concept that integrates them. Using library research with a qualitative-descriptive approach and content analysis of literature on teacher competence, Arabic language teaching, and pesantren educational tradition, the study finds that pedagogical competence covers planning, method selection, classroom management, and evaluation; linguistic competence covers mastery of nahwu-sharaf, vocabulary, the ability to read kitab, and language skills; and spiritual competence covers sincere intention, adab, role modelling, and attachment to the scholarly tradition. The article proposes a concept of Arabic teacher professionalism in pesantren that treats the three competences as one unity, along with development strategies. It concludes that professionalism of Arabic teachers in pesantren requires not only teaching skills and language mastery but also spiritual exemplarity.
