This article presents a condensed examination of Amina Wadud Muhsin's contemporary interpretive thought, covering her biographical background, the foundations of her Islamic feminist ideas, the methodology of Tawhidic hermeneutics, and its application to the Qur'anic verses on creation and inheritance. The study is motivated by concerns over the dominance of classical exegesis considered laden with patriarchal bias, which has shaped an unbalanced understanding of gender relations in Islam. Employing library research with a content-analysis approach, this study traces Wadud's primary works alongside relevant secondary literature. The findings show that Wadud's Tawhidic hermeneutics integrating historical context, grammatical composition, thematic coherence, the Qur'an's overarching principles, and its holistic worldview succeeds in reconstructing gender-related verses, such as QS. al-Nisā' (4): 1 on creation and QS. al-Nisā' (4): 11 on inheritance, into more inclusive and justice-oriented readings. This thought contributes methodologically to the development of contemporary Qur'anic exegesis that is more responsive to gender issues and the social dynamics of Muslim societies.
